1:1 Support Worker

MAIN is looking to recruit someone who is passionate about helping people with disabilities to live active, independent lives. Support our fantastic adults and children in a variety of settings – from their home, to our centre and out in the community as they enjoy one-to-one sessions with you. Not only will you quickly discover the impact of your work on our service users’ lives, you’ll also be well supported, with training and development to really excel in your role.

Our 1:1 ‘PA’ service is the fastest growing areas of support that MAIN offers. Not only do those who use the service feel the benefit, it’s also a much-needed break for their families and carers. You’ll be working with children, young people and adults living with a range of disabilities, but predominantly those on the Autism Spectrum. Each individual will have their own agreed outcomes, developed with you. The service has been specifically designed to offer flexibility, choice and control to the person accessing it and ensures that each individual can progress at their pace, and with the MAIN services that suit them.

It’s a part-time role, and your hours will depend on what your service users need. You’ll be out in the community across the North East, with the flexibility to direct and manage your own workload.

Our ever-growing team is friendly, supportive and passionate. We’re looking for someone like us, who is also:

  • A positive person – you believe in our goal to improve the lives of people living with disabilities
  • Self-motivated – you’re able to plan your own workload, scheduling activities to support the outcomes your clients want to achieve
  • Experienced in working with disabilities, preferably with people on the Autism Spectrum, although this is not essential as full training will be given.
  • Able to communicate well and engage with both children and adults.
  • Happy to work alone, following MAIN’s policies and procedures on keeping safe (full training will be given)
  • Able to produce reports – demonstrating your impact with the people you support
  • Professional at all times
  • Able to drive, with a full, clean driving license and access to your own car (mileage will be reimbursed)
  • Willing to undertake a DBS check

In return, we offer an excellent training and development programme that is ideally suited to complement other educational studies. Specifically, we offer a full induction process, Autism Awareness training, Behaviours that Challenge training, Team Teach training (when available), Accredited Level 2 Understanding Autism Qualification and other internal/ external training.

The salary for this 1:1 Support Worker is:
Under 21: £6.15 P/H
21 – 24: £7.70 P/H
25+: £8.21 P/H

*PLEASE NOTE THE PAY RATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE
