Come Dine with MAIN (CDWM) is a 16-week programme for young people aged 13+ which teaches essential cooking skills whilst they also have fun and make new friends.
Each participant has their own individual work station including oven, hob and kitchen utensils which facilitates independence as they learn everyday life skills. The programme also includes budgeting, shopping, paying for goods, food hygiene, preparation, cooking and presentation skills.
Whilst being a journey for independence at CDWM young people will also learn the softer outcomes of team working and problem solving in a safe and fun environment.
In addition participants will gain an accredited ASDAN qualification to evidence their achievements which in turn increases confidence and raises self-esteem.
On the final week of the course the young people will prepare, cook and serve a three course meal to parents and carers who are invited in to join the group to showcase their new skills and to celebrate their success.
Transport to and from home is available.
CDWM runs from 6.00 pm until 8.30 pm on Tuesday evenings, term-time only
The next course will start on Tuesday 10th September
